The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs sponsors the Program, which is managed by five cooperating agencies: Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES), Institute of International Education (IIE), John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA).

Students receive full funding for their awards including tuition, books, travel expenses and a living allowance based on local costs

The Fulbright Scholar Program is a highly competitive academic exchange program that awards approximately 1,600 new grants annually to outstanding international students and scholars from more than 160 countries around the world to study and conduct research in any of the more than 130 countries where U.S. embassies are located.

Award recipients represent all fields of study and are selected by competitive application review. The program operates in over 155 countries worldwide through a network of over 350 university and host institution partnerships and close to 1,200 American host institutions.

The Fulbright Scholarships Program places approximately 1,600 new grantees each year from more than 160 countries around the world on an equal footing with U.S.

 

citizens by providing them with funding for tuition fees and travel costs for research or study in any field at any degree level at colleges, universities, institutes or other academic institutions anywhere in the world offering programs leading to degrees that are equivalent to those offered at comparable institutions in the United States (full list here).

The Fulbright Program Scholarships , the U.S. government’s flagship international educational exchange program, offers grants for high-achieving applicants to undertake graduate-level studies in the United States.

The program has been running since 1946 and is one of the most prestigious fellowships available. It is funded by the U.S. Department of State and managed by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES).

The Fulbright Program offers a number of awards, including:

Fulbright Scholar Awards: These are awarded to doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers who are pursuing their studies at universities in the United States. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.5 or above on a 4-point scale, have completed at least one year of study, and demonstrate exceptional promise as scholars and teachers in their fields.

Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Awards: These are awarded to foreign language instructors who are teaching English abroad under the auspices of an American university or institution abroad that is affiliated with an accredited U.S. college or university. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and be proficient in the English language at least equivalent to TOEFL 550 paper-based or 213 computer-based (IBT).

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government through the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State.

The Fulbright Program, which began in 1946, is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and those of other countries by encouraging academic and professional exchanges between them.

The program was initiated as a memorial to him after his death in 1995, when it was renamed the « Joint Congressional-Executive Commission on International Education Exchange ». In 2008, it became known as The Fulbright Scholar Program when it received its current name from Congress through Public Law 110-53 (H.R. 2601).
